The BMC 2.2 was a 4 cylinder diesel engine and best known as the Newage Commander, being marinised by Newage and then Tempest Diesels. The simple design of the BMC 2.2 engine made it a firm favourite as a boat engine. Early BMC 2.2 diesel engines were fitted with an inline diesel fuel injection pump, while the later engines were upgraded to a rotary fuel injection pump before the engine ceased production and was replaced by the BMC 2.52 diesel engine. Common road vehicle applications for the BMC2.2 diesel engine included the BMC Leyland Gypsy and the FX4 Taxi. The inclusion of items on this page does not infer that these items are genuine BMC spares. Please check carefully the suitability of the item for your own application. Gasket sets listed do not contain gaskets for marinisation components. Requests for BMC spares should always be accompanied by the engine number / build list. The BMC 2.2 litre engine workshop manual is available to view online.
