The Victron Phoenix battery charger is a fully automatic marine battery charger designed for use all over the world. The charger will function at full capacity between 90-265V AC (50/60Hz) input voltage and will also work on 90-400V DC input, making it a universal product for boat owners and boat builders alike.
The charger features an aluminium epoxy powder coated case which uses stainless steel fixings, all designed to withstand heat, humidity and salty air. The Phoenix also features temperature sensors that will ensure the unit runs within specified limits, and in extreme hot conditions will reduce output current and force cooling to protect the power components. It also features ignition protection, as well as reverse polarity protection.
It is suitable for charging up to three batteries simultaneously. The Phoenix features a four stage charging process - bulk, absorption, float and storage. It will bulk charge before entering a 2.5 - 4 hour absorption stage, before switching to float for 24 hours and finally on to storage if the battery has not discharged during the float period. Once a week the voltage is raised to absorption level again to equalise the battery, before returning to storage. The charger features different presets depending on which type of battery is in use, with an adaptive feature to automatically optimise the process depending on how the battery is being used. It also uses a voltage sensor to ensure the battery always receives the correct charging voltage.
The Phoenix battery charger can be changed and customised through a the VEConfigure software from Victron, downloadable at https://www.victronenergy.com/support-and-downloads/software . The charger has an RS-485 data port which can then be adapted to USB to connect to your computer.
