We supply genuine Johnson nitrile flexible impellers for pumping fuel; Johnson impellers are usually supplied as an impeller kit, with gasket and / or O-ring included.

The impeller is a very important security device. Its task is to pump the water through the cooling system of the engine. But remember that the impeller should be replaced every year, at spring launch. It is highly recommended to make sure you use a Johnson Pump original impeller as this will ensure that the quality complies with the performance and dimension requirements for each pump type. Johnson Pump impellers are manufactured in strict compliance with the pump specifications set by the engine manufacturers.

How to Remove Your Old Johnson Impeller

To ensure that you do not damage your pump components when removing an old impeller it is recommended to use the special impeller pullers which aids in clamping round the impeller to simply slide out of the pump. Using other tools to remove impellers often cause damage to the pump internal components which can affect the pump performance.

How to Fit Your New Impeller

Start by lubricating the shaft, the inside of the pump body and the end cover which will help when inserting the impeller and prevent damage from dry-running the pump at initial start-up. Mount the impeller by making a pushing and twisting movement in the rotating direction. Lubricated impellers should not be stored for extended periods of time. Your engine should be run after installation of a new impeller to wash out the lubrication. These recommendations also apply to any service work on the pump and its components that require the use of lubrication inside the pump for assembly and start-up.

It is good boating practice to always carry a spare genuine Johnson flexible impeller for each of your Johnson pumps.
