Every year, VETUS launches a long list of new VETUS innovations, developed by our own team of engineers.
Our philosophy is to offer our customers innovation through design – creatively, energetically and always with a smile. With our international team of engineers based in several prime VETUS locations, we strive to develop the best boating equipment to make your boating experience a pleasure.
From initial idea to final product, it’s all done in-house.
Ever since the company was founded, back in 1964, VETUS has built its reputation as a world-leading innovator in the manufacture of products for leisure craft and small commercial vessels.
Below, we give you a view behind the scenes.
All products start small. Based on input from users, market research, newly-introduced innovations and other stimuli, an idea is born.
All sources of information are brought together in our ‘VETUS design lab’ to inspire our engineers. With additional assistance from industry partners, governments and knowledge repositories such as universities, our engineers can start to develop new products.
Once a product idea has been hatched, we design an initial concept.
All concepts are discussed internally and with a select team of users. We use in-house 3-D printing to construct tangible models.
Market feedback is used to assemble a list of essential product requirements.
This list will incorporate key factors such as ease of installation, robustness, reliability and safety. Applying the latest 3-D CAD (computer-aided design) programs, the concept drawings are worked up by our engineers into detailed technical illustrations. Dimensions and tolerances are set accordingly to ensure a perfect fit and high-quality finish.
Our engineers work with a variety of specialized production partners who are experts in their field.
Working collaboratively guarantees the highest quality, and our equipment is always supplied with full product information and installation instructions.
All products leave the VETUS warehouse with a comprehensively-detailed product and installation manual.
We have a separate department dedicated to ensuring that boat owners get the best use out of their VETUS products. Our technical documentation crew are involved from the beginning and throughout the entire process, making sure that every consideration, from installation and ease of use to maintenance, is covered.
Any product in the marine environment should withstand tough conditions with ease.
This is why all VETUS products are submitted to a series of tests (simulating the effects of factors including weather influences, UV and salt spray) to ensure that they meet our exacting high-quality standards. Testing is carried out both at our in-house test facility and by independent testing and certification experts.
Once a product is on the shelves in the VETUS warehouse, it is ready to be launched into the market.
We take pride in the strong worldwide network we developed right from the start of our business. Our global channels enable us to introduce our products into local markets, assisted by our website as well as our presence at boat shows and on social media channels.
